Woodstock
The Woodstock Museum. Although I was born 10 years after the original Woodstock, I still consider myself a music fan. I've bought thousands of music CDs & DVDs over the years and still spend at least an hour listening to music every day. Most of the music I like came out after 1969, but Bethel is an easy day trip from NEPA along roads I seldom travel. The only band that I've seen from the original Woodstock lineup is THE WHO. I don't wish I could have seen any of the other bands that played there. If the same event happened now, I would probably not go. I've seen most of the bands I like that are still touring and the newest band I like are the YEAH YEAH YEAHS (they've been around for 10 years).

My 3rd time here & I still LOVE this city!
Since I 1st visited here in 2000, I've loved this city. I can't name any restaurants I like here (like I could in my favorite city of New York), but it's just a feeling I get when I'm here. I still have not used the Metro and I'm sure I'll like the city even more when I eventually do. Although none of my 4 favorite bands are from here, plenty of Seattle-based bands have been very important to me over the years. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden & Alice in Chains are the main ones. Over the years, I've collected over 100 live Pearl Jam shows. Those are all professional recordings as well.

I never saw him holding a guitar in real life
I have a "big 4" when it comes to bands: Metallica, Slayer, The Clash, Sleater-Kinney (in order of discovery). They are not necessarily the ones I listen to the most often, but their music had the most impact on me. Metallica & Slayer spoke to my teen angst, still helps me wake up in the morning and stay awake while driving. The Clash & Sleater-Kinney got me more into political music. As a guy, most of the artists I like are male, but S-K rocks as hard as many (not Metallica or Slayer of course) of the male bands I like. Besides giving me something to relate to, music gives me a jolt.....so I prefer hard rock/metal. However, I enjoy Otis Redding. He had an intensity on stage without being backed up by loud guitars. Very few songs give me a rush like the last half of TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS. Although not one of his more well known songs, OLD MAN TROUBLE is probably my favorite. I never really liked MY GIRL until I heard his live version. His voice just does something amazing to that song. There are songs that give me a jolt and songs that give me goosebumps. Pearl Jam's version of DOCK OF THE BAY (only performed once in early 1994 as an encore) just gives me the chills. I wish they would release a professional recording of it (or play it live again). It has that Vedderesque angst which works surprisingly well for a song that's not an angry song.
